FAQ

Where are you located?
I am located in Waukesha. But because I offer telehealth, I can provide you with services no matter where you live in the state of Wisconsin.
How long are sessions?

Our initial intake session is 1.5 hours.

Regular sessions are 50 minutes long.

How often do we meet?
That’s up to you. Weekly is best in the beginning but not required. After you see progress, you might wish to go to biweekly or even monthly sessions.
How do I get started?
The quickest way is to call or email me some times when you’re available, and we’ll set up a free 30-minute consultation call.
What’s included in the consultation call?

It’s a free 30-minute call to discuss your presenting problem, answer any questions, and see if we are a good fit.

If we feel like we could benefit by working together, we will set up a session, and I will email you all the paperwork needed to get started.

Can I cancel or reschedule if needed?

Absolutely! However, I will need 24 hours’ notice, or the full fee is required.

I get that emergencies happen and the world gets crazy, so I’m always willing to make an exception if I feel it’s needed.

With what age ranges do you work?
I work with adults and adolescents.
Do you assign lots of work to be done in between sessions?
Any “assignments” between sessions are “experiments” you might want to try. They’ll be your ideas!
What is your professional experience?

For many years, I worked with families with special needs children – teaching parents tools and techniques to motivate their kids to be the best they can be.

I work with couples who are struggling with trust issues and infidelity… as well as those who feel they’ve just “grown apart” to reconnect.

I also help clients dealing with long-term depression and anxiety to rediscover their “true self” and inner contentment.

What kind of methods do you use?
My methods are eclectic and depend on the client. Some clients don’t want to delve into the past, and some do. So, it depends. However, I rely heavily on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
What do you offer that other therapists don’t?

I offer an approach that works as fast as you want it to.

We work together knowing that you are the expert on your problems AND your solutions.

I will always believe in your ability to succeed.

How long before I can be done with therapy?
That’s entirely up to you. I’ve had clients see the results they wanted in as little as a few sessions, and I’ve had clients see me for a year even after their initial presenting problem was solved. It’s all about what you want and how hard you work at it.
Can therapy fix my spouse/kid/parent/in-laws/co-worker?
We all wish therapy (or a bolt of lightning) could fix the people around us. The key is changing the way we see things and the way we react to them. Ultimately, when we change ourselves, we also inadvertently change the reactions of those around us, too. So, while therapy doesn’t “fix” the people around us, it still affects them.
Am I allowed to ask personal questions?
Absolutely! I want you to feel comfortable in therapy, and that might mean you have questions for me. I will always answer any questions you have for me to the best of my ability.
If you weren’t a therapist, what would you be doing instead?
I would be a pirate, sailing around the Caribbean with my 3-legged dog as my first mate and my two boat cats… eating tacos as my hubs plays the ukulele swinging in a hammock.
